Privacy Policy

1. Data controller

PassionMap is the service published under the PassionMap brand, available through the mobile application and the passionmap.app domain.

2. Data we collect

Data provided by users

• Account and profile information such as username, display name, photo, passions, description and visible preferences.
• Data received when signing in with a third-party provider (Facebook, Google) or email: account identifier, name, email address and profile picture when you authorize them.
• Content you create, including messages, contact requests, events, invitations, responses, shared attachments, event photos, and post-event reviews and ratings.
• Organizer stats and creator level linked to events you publish.
• Moderation reports you submit.
• Identity verification documents (ID photo and selfie) only if you voluntarily request the Verified account badge. These documents are reviewed by authorized PassionMap staff and deleted after the decision.
• Email address submitted through the beta updates form, only with your consent.

Technical and usage data

• Device permissions when you authorize them: camera, photo library and microphone (chat attachments, event photos, voice messages).
• Location data when you allow it, including background location when enabled in the app and on your device.
• Technical identifiers required to operate the service, such as device identifiers, notification tokens and limited diagnostic logs.
• Information about how you interact with the service, for example participation in events and conversations.
• Storage of hosted media you publish in the service.
• Anti-abuse signals linked to reCAPTCHA Enterprise to verify public form submissions.
• On Android, the app may declare an advertising ID required by certain third-party authentication SDKs. PassionMap does not use it for its own advertising.

3. Why we use data

• Show nearby profiles and events on the map.
• Create accounts, authenticate users and manage sessions through Google, Facebook or email/password.
• Enable connections between users who share passions and interests.
• Support event publishing, post-event reviews and organizer stats display.
• Host and display media you publish in the service.
• Process moderation reports.
• Send useful notifications about messages, invitations, requests and important updates.
• Send beta updates to people who subscribe through the public form.
• Support moderation, abuse prevention, platform security and technical incident handling.
• Improve product reliability through relevant error and diagnostic analysis.

4. Legal bases

PassionMap processes data to provide the service you use, comply with applicable legal obligations, protect platform security and, for permissions such as location and notifications, based on your device-level choices and granted permissions.

The beta updates email is processed based on your consent, which you can withdraw by asking us to delete that address.

5. Data sharing

Information visible in your profile, events, reviews and interactions may be shown to other users as part of the normal service flow and according to your privacy settings.

PassionMap relies on technical service providers necessary for hosting, authentication, storage, notifications and general platform operations. Those providers do not use your data for their own marketing purposes within the PassionMap service.

Facebook Login

If you choose Continue with Facebook, PassionMap uses Facebook Login (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) to authenticate you. Depending on the permissions you grant, Facebook may share with PassionMap through Firebase Authentication: your Facebook user ID, name, email address and public profile picture.

This information is used only to: create or restore your PassionMap account, display your profile, secure sign-in and operate the service. PassionMap does not sell this data or use it for targeted advertising outside the service.

You can revoke Facebook access to PassionMap from your Facebook settings and request deletion of your PassionMap data as described on the user data deletion page. Meta policy: facebook.com/policy.php.

Other providers

Infomaniak processes beta update emails as PassionMap's newsletter provider. Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise protects the public form against abuse.

Data may also be disclosed when legally required, to protect user safety or to enforce the terms of use.

6. Retention

Data is retained for as long as needed to operate the service, manage your account, prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations. Some moderation or technical records may be kept longer when reasonably necessary for security, incident tracking or dispute handling.

Beta update emails are kept until consent is withdrawn or deletion is requested.

7. Your choices and rights

• You can edit some information directly in the app.
• You can disable location or notification permissions in your device settings, knowing that some features may become limited.
• You can request access, correction, deletion or more information by contacting contact@passionmap.app or following the data deletion instructions.

8. Security

PassionMap implements reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to reduce unauthorized access, misuse and data loss. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The service is not intended for children who are not legally allowed to use this type of service in their jurisdiction. If you believe an account should not be using PassionMap, contact contact@passionmap.app.
